An Artist Shaped by Rhythm, Improvisation and Collaboration

Christian Tumalán is a Grammy Award-winning pianist, producer, arranger and musical director whose work moves between Latin jazz, salsa, contemporary production and large-ensemble performance.

Born in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, Tumalán developed through extensive classical piano study before turning toward jazz, where he found a language of improvisation, rhythm and creative freedom. That foundation continues to shape the way he approaches the piano, the studio and the rehearsal room.

As co-founder and co-leader of Pacific Mambo Orchestra, Tumalán received a Grammy Award in 2014. His performance career has included appearances across the United States, Europe, Canada and Latin America, including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Tempo Latino in France, Stern Grove Festival and other major concert and festival stages.

His work extends beyond performance into arranging, composition, production, mixing and musical direction. He builds musical environments: choosing the right feel, personnel, arrangement, sound and level of detail so a performance or recording can become fully realized.

Today, Tumalán continues to work across multiple creative worlds—as pianist, producer, arranger, musical director, educator and bandleader—while leading and developing projects including Pacific Mambo Orchestra, Montuno Swing Salsa Band and the Latin Jazz Trio.

Working Together

Every Project Is Different.

Some collaborations begin with a concert. Others begin with an unfinished demo, a new composition or an artist searching for the right musical direction.

Rather than offering predefined packages, every collaboration begins with a conversation about goals, artistic direction and the experience you want to create.
